GAIN Capital Japan standardizes naming convention, MT4 servers adopt new names

Forex.com Japan, or GAIN Capital Japan Co., Ltd, the Japanese subsidiary of online trading giant Gain Capital Holdings Inc (NYSE:GCAP), is changing the names of the servers for the Metatrader 4 (MT4) platform.

From April 22, 2015, the names of the demo and live servers for all of the versions of MT4 (PC and mobile) the broker is offering to its clients have been modified, with “Forex.com Japan” replaced by “GAIN Capital Japan”.

The modification signifies another step in bringing the services of the Japanese Forex broker in tune with its new strategy, unveiled in September 2014, when Forex.com Japan announced it would rename to GAIN Capital Japan. The change was set to reflect the new focus of the Japanese business on the GTX ECN offering and servicing institutional clients.

Back in the fall of 2014, the company promised its Japanese clients that it would keep providing retail services too via MT4 and ForexTrader platforms. In fact, in August 2014, Forex.com Japan made a step towards beefing up its retail client base by acquiring the client list of Planex Trade, a local rival.

The broker promises to its clients that the shift to the renamed servers will be automatic for most of them. However, if traders use expert advisors, they may have to change the name of the server manually. This goes too for users of the mobile apps.
