New MT4 build to enable testing of indicators

MetaQuotes Software, the developer of the popular trading platforms MetaTrader 4 (MT4) and MetaTrader 5 (MT5), will launch of a beta version of build 810 for MT4 today. Amid the improvements introduced we should definitely note the capability to test indicators.

Users of the popular trading solution have been demanding a functionality to allow testing of indicators for quite some time. And although MT5 is providing such a functionality, MT4 has been focused on testing expert advisors rather than indicators. Well, the new build is finally set to respond to the demands in respect to indicators testing.

This can be done in the visual testing mode. The behavior of the indicator is shown on a chart, which is plotted based on sequences of ticks simulated in the tester.

The feature will be particularly useful for those traders who make use of MetaTrader Market. They can first download a free trial version and see its backtest performance in the strategy tester. Then, they can decide whether they want to buy the indicator or rent it.

Virtual Hosting

The main changes concern the operation in Wine on computers running Linux and Mac OS. Now owners of such machines can work with an allocated virtual server as usual: migrate it, monitor its performance and view logs.

Market Watch

The Market Watch window now displays the current spread of a symbol. Traders can activate the spread information display from the context menu.

Old and New Builds

To update MetaTrader 4 platform to build 810, traders have to connect to demo.metaquotes.net:443 server. The final build of the new MetaTrader 4 platform will be rolled out after the public beta test.

On May 22, 2015, support for MetaTrader 4 terminal versions below 745 will end. Unsupported terminal builds will not be able to connect to servers of the new versions. MetaQuotes strongly recommends that traders upgrade their terminals.

Retail FX platforms are rapidly evolving, with developers trying to engage users with innovative interface and features. You can check out LeapRate’s video on the topic by clicking here.
