Swissquote Group Holding SA (SWX:SQN) today officially announced the launch of an Apple Watch application, just a day before the new gadget arrives in Switzerland.
The free Swissquote App, an add-on and an extension of the already existing Swisquote iPhone mobile banking and trading application, enables users to remain connected to financial markets and to receive alerts about a set of securities which they can customize (equities, funds, options, futures).
In addition, the application provides access to financial news and currency exchange rates. The latter is pretty important for fans of Forex trading.
Also, users of the new app will be able to receive detailed data on the share price moves of their favorite stocks.
There is subtle alert (via vibration) which informs traders of important market occurrences like a share price reaching a certain level.
If needed, users of the app can also close trading positions. This extends the capabilities of the iPhone app to the wrists of traders.
To start using the app, one can download it from Apple Store for free. The app will be active on Apple Watch once the synchronization with iPhone is complete.
The launch of the Apple Watch app is the latest in a series of major technological achievements for Swissquote. The company is the first Swiss bank to launch a mobile banking and trading app for the smartwatch developed by Apple. It was also the first Swiss bank to launch an app for iPhone back in 2008, and, subsequently, for iPad, in 2010. The applications boast 228,000 and 90,700 downloads, respectively.
Mark Burki, Chief Executive of Swissquote, commented: “The Apple Watch App continues our tradition to be the first in using the latest technology to facilitate banking and making formerly exclusive market information available to the common user”.
