After six years as Non-Executive Chairman and Senior Markets Consultant, Saxo Capital Markets in London, Nick Beecroft has concluded his tenure at the firm, having stepped down on July 9, 2015.
LeapRate spoke to Saxo Bank today regarding the matter, with the company having confirmed that Anthony Belchambers has been appointed Non-Executive Chairman of the Board, effective 9 July 2015.
A non-executive director at Saxo Capital Markets Ltd since September 2014, Mr. Belchambers will help guide the business through the next phase of the institutional build-out.
Mr. Belchambers founded FIA Europe, formerly the Futures & Options Association, in 1992 and was its Chief Executive until March 2014. He remains a special adviser to FIA Europe.
A senior FX industry executive, Mr Beecroft began his career in August 1981 as UK Treasure and Chairman of ALCO, and Head of Spot and Forward FX Trading, London, a post which he held for thirteen years taking him into the mid 1990s.
As UK Treasurer, Mr Beecroft was responsible for the US$ 50bn UK balance sheet, incorporating corporate lending and retail mortgage lending, personal loans and car finance. Consecutively he was ALCO Chairman as well as being responsible for short-term interest rate derivative trading.
In May 1995, Mr. Beecroft joined Deutsche Bank where he spent 8 years, holding the positions of Head of FX Trading and Sales and Global Head of Spot and Proprietary FX Trading, before moving to Standard Chartered Bank to become GLobal Head of FX in the capacity of Senior Hedge Fund Banker.
Leaving Standard Chartered in November 2008 after five years with the company, Mr. Beecroft joined C-View as a Portfolio Manager within the company’s Global Macro Interest Rate Program. In 2013, Mr. Beecroft launched a new fund for C-View which was a discretionary hedge fund program, specialising in exchange-traded interest rate futures and options.
Whilst at C-View, he was instrumental in setting up the new fund, including establishment of a prime brokerage relationship, overseeing fund accounting, marketing to prospective investors, as well as portfolio management.
This position coincided with Mr. Beecroft’s tenure as Non-Executive Chairman and Senior Markets Consultant at Saxo Capital Markets, a position which he assumed in 2009, and held during a period in which the bank has been transformed from an FX retail specialist to a multi-asset retail and institutional business.
At Saxo Capital Markets, Mr. Beecroft was a member of the audit committee, and was involved in business development advisory, client acquisition and liaison, hosting client events, sourcing potential new hires, and business media contact with both printed press and TV which resulted in frequent quotations in business press, and appearances on Bloomberg TV, CNBC, Reuters TV and BBC World to comment on global macro-economic and geo-political developments.
Having left this position this month, Mr. Beecroft retains a further non-executive directorship at Crown Agents Bank, a post that he has held since October 2009.
