CBOE sets options trading volume record

CBOE Holdings, Inc (NASDAQ:CBOE) has announced a series of trading volumes records at its subsidiaries – the Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE) and the C2 Options Exchange (C2).

On Friday – August 21, trading volume at CBOE and C2 each set a one-day trading record, with CBOE trading an estimated 11,027,570 options contracts and beating a previous single-day record of 10,919,537, achieved on August 8, 2011.

The all-electronic C2 Options Exchange established a one-day record too, with an estimated 749,563 options changing hands, beating its previous day volume record of 721,478, seen on October 15, 2014.

In addition, volume in options on CBOE’s S&P 500 Index (SPX) options set a single-day record. The estimated volume of SPX options was 2,980,564 contracts. The previous single-day options record in SPX was set October 15, 2014, with 2,686,964 contracts.

In addition, on August 20, 2015, CBOE saw more than 259,000 Russell 2000 (RUT) options traded, more than double the average daily volume since CBOE became the exclusive home for RUT options trading on April 1, 2015.
