In contrast to what the bulk of the industry has displayed thus far, ASX posted a double-digit drop in futures trading volumes in January 2016.
According to ASX’s market activity report for January 2016, out earlier today, futures and options on futures volume amounted to 9,122,612 contracts, a reading which is 24.1% lower than in December 2015. On the brighter side, it is 1% better than in January 2015.
Futures volumes amounted to 8,993,472 contracts, down 24.4% from the reading for December 2015 and up 1% from January 2015 levels.
Options on futures volume was 129,140 contracts, down 3% from December 2015 and down 16% from January 2015 levels.
