Ladbrokes PLC (LON:LAD) has announced that Darren Shapland will retire from the Board on September 24, 2015, following six years in the role of a non-executive director, during five of which he was Chair of the Audit Committee.
The company has already started searching for a replacement non-executive director who will also take on the role of Chair of the Audit Committee with an announcement expected in due course.
Previously, Mr Shapland was Chief Executive of Carpetright plc between 2012 and 2013 having joined as a non-executive director in 2011. Before that he was Chief Financial Officer and Group Development Director of J Sainsbury plc from 2005 to 2011 as well as Chairman of Sainsburys Bank. Prior to this he was Group Finance Director of Carpetright plc (2002-2005) and Finance Director of Superdrug Stores plc (2002-2002) and held a number of senior financial and operational roles with Arcadia Group (1988-2000).

Ladbrokes is a key licensee of Playtech PLC (LON:PTEC), which is entitled to receive £75 million ($114.4 million), under an agreement reached with regards to the merger of Ladbrokes Group and Coral Group unveiled on July 24, 2015.
