International operator of global exchanges and clearing houses Intercontinental Exchange Inc (NYSE:ICE) has just confirmed that it ponders making a bid for London Stock Exchange Group Plc (LON:LSE).
The announcement comes just a week after LSE and Deutsche Boerse AG (ETR:DB1) said they were in advanced-stage merger discussions.
In today’s announcement, ICE notes that no approach has been made to the Board of LSEG, and no decision has yet been made as to whether to pursue such an offer. There can be no certainty that any offer will be made.
ICE must, no later than 5.00 p.m. on March 29, 2016, either announce a firm intention to make an offer for LSE or announce that it does not intend to make an offer for LSEG.
