March was a robust month for derivatives trading at the Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) – this is suggested by the Market Report the Exchange has just published.
SET said the derivatives trading volumes averaged 261,629 contracts per day in March 2016, up 36.36% from the reading of 191,873 contracts a day registered in February 2016. SET attributed the rise to increasing transactions of SET50 Index Futures, SET50 Index Options and Single Stock Futures.
The SET index ended March at 1,407.70 points, up 5.7 pct from the preceding month.
At the end of March, the combined market capitalization of SET’s main board and Market for Alternative Investment (MAI) reached THB 13.73 trillion (USD 389.04 billion), up 5.4% from February 2016. The average daily trading value of SET and MAI was THB 52.56 billion, up 25.7% from a month earlier.
