The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) has published its key operating metrics for April 2016, with derivatives trading volumes staging a steep drop from March 2016 levels and rising markedly from a year earlier.
SET said the derivatives trading volumes averaged 185,463 contracts a day in April 2016, down 29% from the reading of 261,629 contracts a day registered in March 2016. On the brighter side, the annual comparison shows that derivatives ADV was 8% higher in April 2016 than in April 2015.
At the end of April 2016, the SET index stood at 1,404.61 points, slightly lower from the reading of 1,407.70 points at the end of March 2016.
At the end of April, the combined market capitalization of SET’s main board and Market for Alternative Investment (MAI) was THB 13.7 trillion (USD 387.18 billion), flat from March 2016, and marking an 8.7% increase from the end of last year. The average daily trading value of SET and MAI in April was THB 43.71 billion, a 3% increase from April 2015 but slightly down from March 2016.
