Akon is one of the very well known songwriters and singers in the United States. He is of a Senegalese ascent and to be worth around $80 million. Akon is now entering the cryptocurrency hype by intending to launch his very own digital coin – the Akoin.
The story behind the coin and his idea of launching it is not so far-fetched, as it first seems. Akon has already developed and launched the so called Africa Lighting Project, which aims to bring solar power to the oldest continent.
Now, the new coin, Akoin, will also be launched to serve Africa. The sale is expected to go within the next two weeks and more details on it will follow soon.
According to Pagesix website, Akon commented on his new venture:
“I think that blockchain and crypto could be the savior for Africa in many ways because it brings the power back to the people and brings the security back into the currency system and also allows the people to utilize it in ways where they can advance themselves and not allow government to do those things that are keeping them down.”
Akoin will primarily serve the African youth entrepreneurship by integrating crypto-based apps that will enable young people to find different opportunities for generating revenue. The essential idea behind the coin is to enable financial literacy and stability in Africa by primarily targeting entrepreneurship among youths.
What is even more interesting, however, is the Akon Crypto City, which essentially represents the Akoin. The President of Senegal gave a 2,000-acre land as a gift to Akon and now the American singer is developing this piece of land through Akoin. How the city and coin will be integrated and offer abundant opportunities to African people will be revealed very soon. However, this will be the very first “crypto town”, entirely made for and combined with the power of digital assets.
