Deutsche Börse announced that is now financial centre partner of national league football club Eintracht Frankfurt, having signed an agreement with Eintracht Frankfurt Fußball AG.
This step marks the start of a premium partnership between Eintracht Frankfurt and Deutsche Börse focussing on commitment to a region that both firms have been instrumental in shaping – in top-class sport and the international financial market.
Eintracht Frankfurt is an institution with a long tradition, and is an appealing symbol of our city and region. The team moves the hearts of many fans, including lots of Deutsche Börse AG employees. Just as Eintracht offers top-class sport from our region, Deutsche Börse, a company deeply rooted in financial centre Frankfurt, also operates a top-quality international business from here. This is why we are so pleased to jointly affirm our commitment to Frankfurt and our region through this partnership,” commented Deutsche Börse Senior General Manager Matthias Fritton.
However, before we kick off the new season together with Eintracht, we wish the club lots of luck in the forthcoming DFB Cup final in Berlin and eagerly await the event along with the team and fans.” Deutsche Börse CEO Carsten Kengeter will watch the match live in Berlin on Saturday.
Axel Hellmann, member of the management board of Eintracht Frankfurt Fußball AG, added:
We look forward to a lasting partnership with Deutsche Börse. Eintracht Frankfurt and Deutsche Börse are both important showcases for the region and thus an excellent match. For one thing, this partnership emphasizes the key role that Eintracht plays in financial centre Frankfurt and should trigger further commitments from the financial sector. For another, the partnership underscores Deutsche Börse’s policy of engaging in socio-political activities in the region as well. Both institutions attach a great deal of importance to strengthening the location. This was the core topic of all partnership talks that commenced over a year ago. As an innovative global company, Deutsche Börse also stands for the future issues of digitalisation and internationalisation. We are pleased that those very productive talks resulted in signing this special partnership today. Bull, bear and eagle will be united in the future.
The partnership focusses on hosting larger and smaller events, which Deutsche Börse as premium and financial centre partner will co-sponsor with Eintracht, in and around Frankfurt – events that will express the basic ideas of the cooperation. Details of such activities will be announced in advance when the season begins. From 1 July 2017 on, the Deutsche Börse logo will appear on the players’ jersey sleeves as a visible symbol of the new partnership. The agreement is initially for three years.
Philipp Hasenbein, Managing Director at Lagardère Sports Germany, commented:
Deutsche Börse recognised the potential an intensive partnership with Eintracht Frankfurt could have for anchoring itself in the local region. The affective response potential of such a jersey sponsorship opens up a wide range of opportunities for Deutsche Börse to stress its ties and identification with the financial centre.
Deutsche Börse has been paving the way for this partnership for some time and considers it part of the company’s social commitment to the local region.
We will focus all of our social commitment activities even more strongly in the future on engaging in dialogue and exchange in the financial centre with all those concerned about Deutsche Börse and its public and economic activities,” said Matthias Fritton. “Sponsoring Eintracht Frankfurt is one such important element, with more to follow.
Deutsche Börse is also a partner of the Rheingau Musik Festival and supports social projects in Frankfurt and the region, among other charitable activities. Moreover, the company established Art Collection Deutsche Börse, which now comprises 1,700 works of international contemporary photography, in 1999.
