Increased volatility of financial markets in the last week of February lead to increased volumes compared to previous years on Deutsche Börse’s cash market platforms. February cash market turnover amounted to €183.0 billion (€116 billion for the previous year), marking a 60 % increase. 2.8 million orders were executed, achieving trading volume of €18.6 billion, making last Friday, 28 of February, the day with the highest trading volume on Xetra since 2008.
€153.8 billion of the total turnover are attributed to Xetra (€104.0 billion for the previous year), making the average daily trading volume for Xetra €7.7 billion (€5.2 billion for the previous year). Börse Frankfurt achieved turnover of €5.6 billion (€2.8 billion for the previous year) and on Tradegate Exchange €23.6 billion (€9.2 billion for the previous year).
SAP SE achieved the highest volume from the DAX stock on Xetra in February with €7.0 billion. Commerzbank AG led the MDAX equities with €1.6 billion in February and RIB Software SE led the SDAX index with €625 million. The iShares Core DAX UCITS ETF generated the largest volume in the ETF sector with €1.0 billion.
