Japan Exchange Group has released the trading overview (preliminary estimates) for FY2017 & March 2018.
Cash Equity Market
- In FY2017, daily average trading value for the TSE 1st Section (domestic common stocks) reached JPY 2.957 trillion, an all-time high.
- In the ETF market, trading value was JPY 46.799 trillion (daily average: JPY 191 billion), the third highest on record.
- In March 2018, the daily average trading value for the TSE 1st Section (domestic common stocks) was JPY 3.0758 trillion.
- In the ETF market, trading value was JPY 6.6475 trillion in March 2018.
Derivatives Market
- In FY2017, total derivatives trading volume was 353,597,076 contracts, the third highest on record, and exceeding 300 million contracts for the five consecutive years.
- In the last half of FY2017, total derivatives trading volume was 205,184,700 contracts, the highest trading volume over the same period.
- Trading value for equity index derivatives and total derivatives trading value reached JPY 1,499 trillion and JPY 2,827 trillion respectively, both all-time highs.
- In FY2017, trading volume for the night session was 127,519,868 contracts, the second highest on record. The ratio of the night session was 36.1%, an all-time high.
- In FY2017, trading volume for TOPIX Futures was 25,795,214 contracts, an all-time high.
In March 2018, trading volume for TOPIX Futures was 3,813,840 contracts, an all-time high.
- In FY2017, trading volumes for TSE REIT Index Futures, TSE Mothers Index Futures, DJIA Futures and Weekly Options hit the record highs.
- In March 2018, trading volume for the night session was 16,285,978 contracts, the third highest on record, and the ratio of the night session was 38.6%.
- In March 2018, trading volume for TSE Mothers Index Futures was 57,504 contracts, an all-time high.
- In March 2018, trading volume for Weekly Options was 60,263 contracts, an all-time high.
- In March 2018, trading volume for DJIA futures was 24,891 contracts, the third highest on record.
