On Tuesday, global payments network Thunes announced the expansion of its collaboration with Hyperwallet to enhance payout access for merchants across the Asia-Pacific region.
Thunes and Hyperwallet Expand Payout Access Across Asia-Pacific
Hyperwallet is a PayPal service for global payouts. The partnership lets Hyperwallet’s customers send real-time payments to over 450 million mobile wallets and bank accounts in countries including Bangladesh, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, South Korea, and Vietnam.
The company said the new alliance comes in response to the rapidly growing digital wallet usage in Asia-Pacific, which, according to a 2024 Deloitte report, accounts for nearly 70% of global digital wallet spend.
The partnership aims to offer Hyperwallet’s global merchant base the ability to provide customers with their preferred payout methods. The merchant base includes prominent ride-hailing apps, marketplaces, and social media platforms.
Floris de Kort, CEO of Thunes, stated: “Welcoming PayPal’s Hyperwallet into our Direct Global Network underscores our ability to provide powerful new capabilities to top-tier fintechs.
“With our extensive network that directly, transparently and dependably connects to over 7 billion bank accounts and mobile wallets worldwide, combined with our SmartX Treasury System and our Fortress Compliance Platform, Thunes is uniquely positioned to support Hyperwallet to increase its reach in fast growing geographies to enhance its cross-border payment services.”
The partnership is also expected to address the diverse payout preferences across the region, which are driven by varying levels of banking penetration and the adoption of real-time payment systems.
