The Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission (CySEC) has just mde an announcement regarding the renewal of the registrations in the Public Register of Certified Persons (the “public register”).

A. Renewal Process
In accordance with the Paragraph 17(1) of the Directive regarding the Certification of Persons and the Certification Registers (174(I)/2015) (the “Directive”), the persons registered in the public register must renew their registration by the end of February each year.
In accordance to Paragraph 17(2) of the Directive, in order to renew their registration in the public register, Certified Persons must:
(a) Have completed by the end of 2017, continued professional training on topics that fall within the relevant legislation which applies to them and which relate directly to the duties which they will undertake as part of their certification, of a duration of:
- ten (10) hours for persons registered in the public register for the basic examination
- fifteen (15) hours for persons registered in the public register for the advanced examination
- fifteen (15) hours for persons registered in the public register for the compliance officers.
(b) Pay to CySEC the annual renewal fee of eighty euro (€80).

We would like to remind all interested parties that those who have registered in Public Registry in 2017 for the first time, do not need to renew their registration in 2018.
B. Submission of the Renewal Registration
Persons, who wish to renew their registration in the public register for 2018 must follow the procedure described in the following link:
The online renewal process for 2018 will come into operation on January 8, 2018.
C. Deletion from the Public Register
Please note that, paragraph 20 (a) of the Directive, provide that certified persons who fail to renew their registration according to paragraph 17, will be deleted from the public register.
Therefore it is highlighted that certified persons who do not renew their registration for 2018, by the 28th of February 2018, will be automatically deleted from the Public Register and will have to re-register according to paragraph 21 of Directive.
