The Malta Financial Services Authority (MFSA) announced that, on the 9th May 2017, it successfully concluded and signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Financial Information Authority of the Holy See and the Vatican City State.
The MoU establishes a framework of bilateral cooperation between the two Authorities in the carrying out of their respective duties and obligations. It also provides for the exchange of information and the provision of technical and investigative assistance between the two Authorities.
This agreement was signed by Professor Joe V. Bannister, Chairman of the Malta Financial Services Authority, and Dr. Tommaso di Ruzza, Director of the Financial Information Authority.
The Financial Information Authority was established by Pope Benedict XVI with the Apostolic Letter issued “Moto Proprio” on 30 December 2010 and reformed by Pope Francis with the Apostolic Letter issued “Motu Proprio” on 15 November 2013. The said Authority is inter alia responsible for the prudential supervision and regulation of entities carrying out professionally a financial activity.
