Microsoft (MSFT) has launched a series of new AI features as the world’s top tech companies battle to get into pole position for the future. This latest move by MSFT follows the recent release of an AI-powered search platform by Google (GOOG).
Microsoft Launches New AI Features
The details were revealed during Microsoft’s Build conference, which was held in Seattle on Tuesday. Among the highlights of the presentation was the new version of OpenAI’s GPT-4o model created by its Azure AI Studio. This new model promises to accept inputs through video and audio as well as text.

The project ran into legal issues last week when actress Scarlett Johansson demanded that the firm changes the chatbot’s voice. Johansson said that she had been asked to take part by OpenAI CEO Sam Altman but had decided that she didn’t want to go ahead. The actress said:
When I heard the released demo, I was shocked, angered and in disbelief that Mr Altman would pursue a voice that sounded so eerily similar to mine.
The idea with the latest Microsoft development is that users can create copilots, which would be an AI-based program capable of responding to a range of different input methods. Microsoft 365 will be receiving a new Team Copilot that can take notes and handle issues such as meeting agendas.
The new features will be made available in Azure in preview mode later this month or early in June. MSFT’s huge investment in OpenAI has helped the firm to grow its Azure services, with 7% of its growth in the last quarter due to the use of AI.
