LeapRate Exclusive… LeapRate has learned that FCA regulated AT Global Markets (UK) Limited, which operates the ATFX online trading brand in the UK, has added Julian Courtney to its Board of Directors as a non-executive director.
Mr. Courtney’s appointment is pending regulatory approval.
He will have particular responsibility for providing oversight and independent advice to the Board on financial, compliance and governance matters.
ATFX has been rapidly expanding its footprint around the world, but particularly in the UK and Europe. As was exclusively reported by LeapRate in April, ATFX recently expanded to Cyprus by acquiring control of CySEC licensed institutional FX broker PositivaFX, also expanding the operation to include Retail FX.
The UK company AT Global Markets (UK) Limited was set up in 2015 by ATFX and received a matched-principal broker license from the FCA in July 2017. The company hired Richard Craddock was hired as CEO for the UK operation. Mr. Craddock had previously been Chief Trader with MF Global, COO of institutional FX broker Fixi plc, and an executive and board member of the Naga Group and its SwipeStox retail trading arm. Kicking off the company’s new UK presence, ATFX recently engaged in a high-profile London Taxi ad campaign (see picture above).
Back to the company’s most recent addition…. Julian Courtney has served as Global Head of Compliance and Legal in the UK office of global brokerage EDF Man Capital Markets since 2012. He also sits on the board of FCA regulated broker Valbury Capital.
Mr. Courtney is a Chartered Accountant with over 30 years of finance, compliance and governance experience in the broking industry. Prior to EDF Man he was a partner at equities sales and research specialists Aviate Global, where he had responsibility for Finance and Compliance. Prior to joining Aviate, he held senior roles at Deloitte, Price Waterhouse and Fimat, and was a founding director of Marex Financial Limited, the independent derivatives and Foreign Exchange broker providing trading in commodities, financial futures, options and foreign exchange.
Julian Courtney has been a member of the FCA Commodities Steering Group and the Compliance and Anti-Money Laundering Committees of the UK Futures and Options Association (FOA), and is a regular speaker at conferences organised by the FOA and the US Futures Industry Association.
