BNP Paribas Asset Management (BNPP AM) has appointed Simeon Tsonev to the role of Currencies Portfolio Manager within its Emerging Markets Fixed Income team, further strengthening the team and enhancing its investment capabilities.
In this newly-created role, Tsonev will be responsible for alpha-generating decisions within emerging market currencies. He will be based in London, reporting to Bryan Carter, Head of Emerging Markets Fixed Income.
Simeon Tsonev has eight years of investment experience and joins from Credit Suisse where he was a Vice President of FX Options Trading, with a focus on emerging market currencies, and had market-making responsibilities in the Asian, Eastern European, Middle Eastern and African currency options markets. At Credit Suisse, he worked in New York, London and most recently Singapore, developing the bank’s e-FX electronic options market-making platform and researching systematic relative value strategies in currency options on OTC (over-the-counter) and listed markets. Simeon has a BA in Economics & Political Science from Vassar College and a PhD in Economics from Columbia University. A native of Bulgaria, he is fluent in Bulgarian, Russian and English.
