The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET), in collaboration with Thai Investor Relations Club and Thai Listed Companies Association, informed that it holds a seminar “MiFID II: The New Challenges For Thai Capital Market”, in which experts from Bloomberg and Maybank Kim Eng jointly provide information to listed companies about Markets in Financial Instruments Directive II framework (MiFID II) – European Commission’s new requirements to tighten financial institutions’ business operation.
In addition, SET also introduces SET Digital Roadshow initiated to effectively widen listed companies’ opportunities in accessing global investors.
SET Senior Executive Vice President Santi Kiranand said that MiFID II consists of stricter measures governing business operations of European financial institutions and capital markets, including definition and financial products’ prospectus to enhance transparency, offering greater protection to investors and making clearer regulatory framework. Recently adopted in January 2018 in Europe, related parties in financial business and capital markets worldwide have been aware of and enthusiastically prepared for its impact. SET therefore organizes today’s seminar to create understanding and prepare Thai listed companies’ readiness for the changes.
In addition, as technology is playing a more significant role in business sectors, SET further capitalizes online channel by launching the SET Digital Roadshow to familiarize more foreign investors with information from Thai listed companies, with a chance to make direct conversation, making it more convenient. The move is considered a part of SET’s 2018 strategic plan which focuses on strengthening Thai capital market with quality,” added Santi.
SET Digital Roadshow is a live broadcast channel in 2018 to open opportunity for all sizes of Thai listed firms from every industry to use it in presenting information such as operating performance and growth potential to investors from every corner of the world to widening their reach to investors.
SET Digital Roadshow is scheduled to take place twice a year in March and November. Moreover, SET plan to joined force with securities companies to hold Exclusive Digital Roadshow – the quarterly one-on-one and group meetings between listed companies and foreign institutional fund managers.
