First version of MT4 web platform is officially released

MetaQuotes Software, the software developer that has given the Forex community the famous MetaTrader 4 (MT4) and MetaTrader 5 (MT5) trading platforms, today announced the release of a landmark build (880) of MT4. The new release is remarkable for the fact that the platform is now available through web browsers.

The release comes shortly after the company announced the beta test of MT4 web in the end of August. Now, first web version of the trading platform has been rolled out. Trading and analytical features can now be accessed from a web browser.

Web trading is already available in the new Trading section of the MQL5.community site. Later on, traders will be able to trade straight from their broker’s website, because the web terminal can be easily integrated into a HTML page as a convenient widget using iframe.

The following basic functions are already available:

  • All types of trading operations: placing market and pending orders;
  • Real-time quotes in the Market Watch;
  • Customizable price charts;
  • 9 chart timeframes;
  • Basic analytical objects: horizontal, vertical and trend line, equidistant channel and Fibonacci lines.

The features of the web platform are set to be further expanded.

The MT4 880 build includes a raft of other enhancements too, including improved security via OTP authentication, as well as a new context menu command has been added for quick connection to a Web terminal.

Have in mind that at this point Web trading is only available on demo accounts of the MetaQuotes-Demo server. As soon as a broker updates the MetaTrader 4 platform and enables the web trading option on the server, its clients will be able to trade with this broker’s account via the web terminal.
