After a challenging January, ASX managed to see a robust rise in futures trading volumes in February 2016.
According to data from the latest ASX Group Monthly Activity Report, total futures and options on futures volume amounted to 10,558,889 contracts in February 2016, a reading which is 15.8% stronger than in January 2016. In annual terms, the comparison is also positive, as the result for February 2016 is 13.6% stronger than in February 2015.
Futures volumes reached 10,363,616 contracts in February 2016, up 15.2% month on month and up 14% year on year.
Options on futures volume was 195,273 contracts last month, up 51.2% from January 2016 and down 19% from February 2015. Average daily options volume was down 23% from February 2015 levels.
