The mid-August short interest represents 4.37 days average daily Nasdaq Global Market share volume for the reporting period, compared with 5.06 days for the prior reporting period.
Short interest in 771 securities on The Nasdaq Capital MarketSM totaled 624,882,611 shares at the end of the settlement date of August 15, 2016 compared with 636,275,423 shares in 770 securities for the previous reporting period. This represents 2.70 days average daily volume, compared with the previous reporting period’s figure of 3.09.
In summary, short interest in all 3,105 Nasdaq securities totaled 8,126,212,216 shares at the August 15, 2016 settlement date, compared with 3,105 issues and 8,298,753,181 shares at the end of the previous reporting period. This is 4.17 days average daily volume, compared with an average of 4.83 days for the previous reporting period.
