The Dubai Financial Services Authority (DFSA) today announced that it has received a request from Nasdaq Dubai Ltd to obtain designation as the National Numbering Agency (NNA) for the jurisdiction of the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC).
The role of the NNA is to accept registration information from issuers of new financial instruments such as shares, bonds and derivatives, and then to issue codes that uniquely identify these instruments according to International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) standards. The NNA also maintains the validity of the registration data. As an NNA for the DIFC, Nasdaq Dubai would be the main source of the codes and identification information in the DIFC.
The DFSA is ready to approve the request received from NASDAQ Dubai. The regulator notes that Nasdaq Dubai is an Authorised Market Institution (AMI) and the operator of the Central Securities Depository in the DIFC.
However, the DFSA would like to provide the opportunity for comments before making its final decision. Comments should be sent via email to [email protected] by January 27, 2016.
