Paysafe Group Plc (LON:PAYS), formerly Optimal Payments, today provided an update regarding its investigation into alleged breaches of customers’ data.
The company said that third-parties have illegally obtained data related to limited account details from 3.6 million NETELLER accounts and basic personal details relating to 4.2 million Skrill accounts.
Paysafe notes that less than 2% of the NETELLER and Skrill accounts affected by the breach were active in the six months to November 1, 2015. Also, these data does not include passwords, card data or bank account information. Paysafe stresses that a major accounting firm has verified these findings.
Paysafe believes that this data emanated from the cyber-attacks in 2009 and 2010 and is not aware of any similar breaches since that time.
It notes that it is confident that this data will not in itself allow any existing NETELLER or Skrill customer accounts to be accessed.
