The wave of partnerships between Forex companies and sports teams is gathering impulse, with the latest piece of proof presented earlier today by CFD broker Plus500 Ltd (LON:PLUS).
The company has just unveiled an upgraded sponsorship agreement with Club Atlético de Madrid, SAD, in a deal that comes several months after Plus500 and the FC clinched their initial partnership agreement.
The upgraded partnership means that Plus500 will be the main official sponsor of Club Atlético de Madrid, SAD, for the 2015/16 and 2016/17 seasons. Both parties are also considering extending the partnership into further seasons.
As part of the agreement, the Plus500 logo will feature as Official Sponsor on the front of the home and away Atlético Madrid shirts for all matches, including the UEFA Champions League. Plus500 will enjoy a range of branding rights at the stadium and beyond as well as a host of other sponsorship benefits.
Gal Haber, Chief Executive Officer of Plus500, said: “We are honoured to extend our partnership with such an illustrious football club as Atlético Madrid for at least 2 more seasons, which has established a strong pedigree for well over 100 years. Atlético Madrid is a natural fit for us as Europe is our largest customer base, and we share with them a passion for striving for success whilst having an ethos of transparency and respect for our customers, fans, partners and employees. In addition, this partnership with one of the most successful clubs in Europe that plays in one of the most popular leagues in the world will help us in furthering our strategy of increasing our brand recognition and expanding our customer base globally.”
Miguel Ángel Gil Marín, Chief Executive Officer of Atlético Madrid, added: “We are delighted to have expanded the partnership agreement with Plus500. This is an exciting period for the club as – like Plus500 – we grow our international footprint. We believe that this partnership with Plus500 will support this progress, and we look forward to sharing our journey with them.”
Sport sponsorships by Forex companies are getting increasingly popular. The latest examples include eToro sponsoring West Ham United, as well as IG Group Holdings plc (LON:IGG) partnering with Melbourne Football Club.
