Further to our article yesterday regarding an email that went out from PowerOption, stating that the company was being shut down, PowerOption and its parent, Ireland-based parent AvaTrade put out a statement clarifying the situation.
In brief, PowerOption is alive and well and remains open – and indeed remains one of the few CySEC-regulated binary options brokers. However, the company has indeed made some changes, choosing to discontinue its affiliate marketing program Powerbucks.
So what happened?
Well it looks like an overzealous affiliate manager within PowerOption simply decided to send the unauthorized email (the text of which can be seen in our previous article), incorrectly stating that the company was shutting down.
The PowerOption / AvaTrade statement reads as follows:
Dublin, 10 December 2014 – Binary options broker PowerOption has announced that it is discontinuing its affiliate marketing program.
This will have no impact on its day-to-day operations and clients will be able to continue trading, make deposits and withdraw funds as normal.
PowerOption parent company, Ava Group, said the decision was prompted by an internal review of its corporate strategy.
