The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) earlier today reported its operating metrics for September 2015 and the third quarter of 2015, with derivatives trading showing a rise in volumes in both quarterly and annual terms.
Derivatives average daily trading volume (ADV) amounted to 213,999 contracts in the third quarter of 2015, up 25.3% from the second quarter of 2015 and up 10.7% from the third quarter of 2014. The main growth driver was an increase in SET50 Index futures trading.
In September 2015, the derivatives average daily trading volume rose 6.6% from August 2015 to 228,574 contracts.
Securities trading failed to impress in the period, with the combined average daily securities trading value of the SET’s main board and Market for Alternative Investment (MAI) dropping 24.35% in the third quarter of 2015 compared to the same period last year to THB 41.15 billion (US$ 1.14 billion).
The combined market capitalization of the SET’s main board and MAI was at THB 13.11 trillion (US$ 364 billion) at the end of September 2015, down 7.95% from end-2014.
