The Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) has earlier today updated its Alert List, with the latest additions including a fake Hong Kong regulator.
The SFC warns that the Hong Kong Foreign Investments Trade Authority (HKFITA) is falsely claiming to be a regulatory body for the securities and futures markets in Hong Kong.
HKFITA is providing the following physical address: Nine Queen’s Road Central, 23rd Floor, Hong Kong, but the SFC notes that it is not located there.
The website of the fake regulator is https://hkfita.org. It was unresponsive at the moment of publication of this article.
This is not the first time that the SFC warns of such scams. The Alert List already features 49 Fake regulators and/or market operators.
