Amercanex, the American Cannabis Exchange, today announced that former NYMEX Chairman Richard Schaeffer, along with his fellow NYMEX Board Member David Greenberg, have joined the Amercanex team. Schaeffer, now an equity stakeholder in Green Tree International, Inc, parent company of Amercanex, and is a new member of Green Tree’s Board of Directors. Greenberg has joined the Amercanex Advisory Board. Both Schaeffer and Greenberg bring Amercanex extensive exchange experience along with their network of contacts throughout the financial community. As the cannabis industry grows more and more corporate professionals are bringing their skills and experience to the new emerging cannabis market.
Richard Schaeffer has over 30 years of experience in the financial services industry; Schaeffer held a variety of positions with New York Mercantile Exchange, including those of Treasurer, Director, Vice Chairman and was Chairman from 2006 to 2008, where his leadership proved instrumental with helping to increase the valuation of the NYMEX from $900mm to $13B with one of the most successful IPO’s in History. He later sold NYMEX to the Chicago Mercantile Exchange. In addition to serving as NYMEX’s Chairman, Schaeffer also led commodity trading powerhouse ABN AMRO, Inc., as their Director of Global Energy Futures from 1997 to 2006. Richard has served on the Board of Directors for University of Maryland’s School of Business, Juvenile Diabetes Foundations, The Museum of American Finance, NYMEX Charitable Trust, Magic Jack, The Montreal Stock Exchange and presently is the Chairman of the Endowment/ Investment Committee for Scared Heart University.

David Greenberg has more than 25 years of experience in private investments, commodities trading, and global markets, as a member of the NYMEX Board of Directors and Executive Committee; He served as chairman of many of the Exchanges Committees and was a key member of the team lead by Schaeffer. David is a recurring commentator for media outlets such as FOX and CNBC, and has also been a guest lecturer for the finance program at West Point Military Academy, Columbia Business School, the Jack Welch Experience at Sacred Heart University, the Whitman School of Management at Syracuse University and Hofstra University. David serves on the Board of the 9/11 Tribute Center, Greenberg Capital LLC, and Sterling Commodities Corp.
